Stevens Point remains unbeaten with 25-point win over Marshfield boys basketball

STEVENS POINT — Stevens Point ran out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and cruised to an 83-58 victory over Marshfield in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys basketball game Friday night at Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH).

SPASH, ranked No. 1 in the WisSports.net Division 1 state coaches poll, led 23-11 after the first quarter and 43-22 at halftime on its way to another big win. The Panthers improve to 17-0 overall and 8-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Marshfield drops to 5-12 and 1-6 in the conference.

Will Spindler led Marshfield with 14 points, and Tanner Boson added 12.

Trevor Anderson had 24 points, and Sam Hauser scored 16 for SPASH. The Panthers made nine 3-pointers in the win.

Marshfield hosts Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday as part of a girls-boys doubleheader. The girls game starts at 6 p.m. The boys follow at 7:45 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
