What’s new at this year’s Dairyfest?

Posted

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MACCI) Events & Engagement Director Dawn Krueger said there will be a few new features during this year’s Dairyfest weekend, held May 29-30 in downtown Marshfield and at the Marshfield fairgrounds.

“At breakfast this year, we will not be doing the agricultural awards. Those will be done Friday night at Columbia Park, so there are more people and more attention paid to it,” she explained.

“Also, at Columbia Park, we're going to have a foam zone. It is going to be just that, where they come with a big foam gun and the kids can play in that, along with balloon animals.

Krueger said that Columbia Park will also feature a children’s play this year — Alice @ Wonderland — put on by Trinity Lutheran School.

Both the breakfast and the Columbia Park events are held on the Friday of Dairyfest weekend.

“Saturday at Center City Fun Day, we are going to have the Juggler with Yellow Shoes and Doc Ron's Weird Science Comedy Show. And then afterwards, Doc Ron turns into Rodini & Angel's Bombastic Bubble Fun,” Kruger said.

“And then, we'll also have a medallion hunt this year; our Agribusiness Committee has arranged that.”

This will begin May 25, with clues given out daily at 9 a.m. on MACCI’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/MarshfieldChamberWI.

Clues are also posted in the entrance window of the MACCI office at 700 S. Central Ave., Marshfield.

“There will be a prize for the person who finds that medallion,” Krueger said.

MACCI Executive Director Denise Sonnemann said that the organization has something else that’s new that starts at Dairyfest and runs through June Dairy Month.

“We're going to create little punch cards, where you have to visit the four ice cream places in Marshfield, so that'd be like Dairy Queen, Weber's Farm, Melody Gardens and Hub City Ice Cream…  if you go to all four of them in June, and bring your card back, you get a prize,” she explained.

“We're going to start handing them out at Dairyfest, but something different just to keep people out to enjoy the dairy month.”
