MARSHFIELD – Daulton Varsho was all smiles Oct. 5, after entering Major League Baseball's postseason record book.
The gold-glove outfielder helped the Toronto Blue Jays to a 13-7 win over the New York Yankees, in their best-of-seven American League Division Series playoff.
Daulton had two doubles, two home runs and drove in four runs, as the Jays took a 2-0 series lead.
Varsho also became just the fifth player in MLB history to record four extra base hits in a postseason game.
The last to do so was St. Louis first baseman Albert Pujols, who had a home run and three doubles in game two of the 2011 National League Championship Series against Milwaukee.
The others are Yankees DH Hideki Matsui against Boston in the 2004 ALCS, Pittsburgh first baseman Bob Robertson vs. the Giants in the 1971 NLCS, and Chicago White Sox infielder Frank Isbell against the Cubs in game five of the 1906 World Series.
