The Eighth grade science class at GHS is currently studying earthquakes; causes and effects. Pictured here are students building a model to show how buildings can be engineered to withstand earthquakes and sustain less damage. They are utilizing cross-brace reinforced walls to increase torsional flexibility and base isolators with large springs to allow buildings to withstand shaking by permitting some movement.
