IRVING, Texas – St. Olaf Senior Defensive End Noah Barrett, of Stratford, was recently chosen as the college’s football program nominee for the National Football Foundation William V. Campbell Trophy.
Coming off a breakout junior season, Barrett was selected as St. Olaf's nominee for the award, which is given annually to the nation's top football scholar-athlete.
To qualify, a student-athlete must be in their final year of playing eligibility or a graduated player, must hold a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, must be a starter or significant contributor, and must show exemplary leadership in the classroom, on campus and within the community.
He has played in all 30 games — including starting all 10 games last season — over his three seasons to date and has compiled 100 total tackles (53 solo), 18.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, four passes defended, one forced fumble, four fumble recoveries and one blocked kick.
He ranked in the top five in the conference in fumble recoveries (t-second), tackles for loss (third), and sacks (t-fifth).
During his time on campus, Barrett has been a two-year team captain and three-year member of the team's leadership council.
Last year, he was one of the recipients of the Iron Ole Award for dedication and leadership in the area of strength and conditioning.
He has also volunteered for “Oles for Opportunity,” at a 7-on-7 football tournament and as a flag football referee and coach.
Semifinalists for the Campbell Trophy will be announced on Sept. 24.
Finalists are slated to be named on Oct. 22, followed by the live announcement of the recipient on Dec. 9 at the 67th NFF Annual Awards Dinner in Las Vegas.
Finalists will each receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship.
The recipient's scholarship will be increased to $25,000.
Barrett is a 2022 graduate of Stratford High School.
His parents are Mike Barrett, of Stratford, and Chandra Barrett, Marshfield.
