Who introduced you to the sport? Justin Casperson
Has this always been your favorite sport?
Yes, this has always been my favorite sport. I used to struggle a lot making it unenjoyable but over time with awesome coaches I was able to find the passion for it.
How has balancing academics and athletics been different for you from your freshman year to your senior year?
Freshman year was honestly a lot harder because I was still figuring everything out time management, practices, homework and just adjusting to high school. Now as a senior, I’ve learned how to stay organized and prioritize what’s important. I know how to manage my time way better, so balancing school and softball feels a lot less stressful than it used to
What is your favorite part about this sport?
My favorite part about softball is the team. I love the bond you build with your teammates and how everyone pushes each other to be better. Nothing is better than the energy during games and celebrating big moments together.
What about it has caused you to stick with it for this long?
I’ve stuck with softball because of how much I genuinely enjoy it and the relationships I’ve built through it. It’s also taught me a lot about discipline, hard work, and not giving up, which has kept me motivated to keep playing
What would you say is your biggest asset on the field/mat?
My biggest asset is the energy I bring to the team. I’m also someone my teammates can count on for support.
What has been your most memorable experience in high school sports so far?
The bus rides to big games or home from big wins. That time with the team and the excitement and energy shared with everyone on the bus is always the most memorable experiences.
How does it feel as a senior, to look back throughout high school and see your growth (as a person and athlete)?
It’s honestly really rewarding. Looking back, I can see how much I’ve grown not just as a player, but as a person too. I’ve become more confident and responsible and it’s cool to see how far I’ve come since freshman year.
Any memorable coaches or teammates you’d like to give a shout out to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to Justin Casperson. He believed in me, gave me so many opportunities, and played a big role in helping me grow into the player I am today.
