Parents’ names: Erick and Leah Boon
Siblings: Logann and Emmett Boon
Career highlight: Going to sectionals my first season of both golf and wrestling.
At what age did you start playing your main sport?
I started golfing at the age of 15, but I was an avid miniature golfer before that. I quickly learned that they are two very different things.
Who introduced you to the sport?
My dad first introduced me to golf when I was pretty young, I would go to golf courses with him and watch. Sometimes I would get out of the cart and putt on the greens. My dad also introduced me to the sport of wrestling when my younger brother first started wrestling. I never thought I would become a wrestler since I always loved basketball so much but after a little encouragement from a few girls this last year I decided to give it a try. I do not regret it one bit.
Has this always been your favorite sport?
I never saw myself playing the sports I do now, when I was younger I always thought that I was going to play basketball in college, but I slowly fell out of love for the sport. My brother has always wrestled and I always felt a rush when I watched him. I always wished that my parents would have signed me up to wrestle when I was younger. So no, basketball was my favorite sport for almost my entire life but it slowly changed and now I have found a love for both golf and wrestling.
How has balancing academics and athletics been different for you from your freshman year to your senior year?
As a freshman, I was still learning how to manage my time and meet the higher expectations both in the classroom and in my sports. My sophomore year I had an ankle injury and had time outside of sports to focus on my academics. I quickly realized how much I cared about school and my grades. I refocused a lot of my priorities to school and volunteering. As I was able to play sports again I was able to find a balance between the two and a lot of my time spent my junior and senior year was doing the things I love: sports, school, church and volunteering.
What is your favorite part about this sport?
I love meeting new people from different schools. During the golf season during meets we are paired with girls from other schools. It forces us all to have conversations with each other since we are spending whole days together on the course. Some of those girls have become some of my best friends.
What about it has caused you to stick with it for this long?
The drive to do better in every sport I am in really forces me to stick with things. I also enjoy feeling connections within the team and the positivity that is brought from all the girls and the coaches is something that I really enjoy.
What would you say is your biggest asset on the field/track?
My biggest asset that I have carried with me in all my sports is my positivity and my ability to be coached. I love getting advice from coaches as I am always looking for ways to improve and I always try to find positives in every situation, win or lose.
What has been your most memorable experience in high school sports so far?
I have enjoyed competing in sports with my younger sister. We are always pushing each other to work harder, she really brings out my competitiveness. This year during wrestling season we were wrestling partners, and it was always a battle to do better than each other. I think having this one season with her wrestling has really brought us closer together, though there was some arguing, we were always pushing each other to be our best. I am very grateful for that.
How does it feel as a senior, to look back throughout high school and see your growth (as a person and athlete)?
I just like to sit back and laugh now thinking about what I thought was going to happen throughout my high school athletic career, everything changed. I started my freshman year playing volleyball, basketball, and softball. I ended up golfing, wrestling, and doing track and field. I am so proud of the growth that has happened throughout these four years, the sports that I have chosen to stick with my senior year have helped evolve me into the person that I want to be. Being an athlete is part of who I am and sports have helped shape the hard work ethic within me. I will carry these memories and values with me throughout the rest of my life.
Any memorable coaches or teammates you’d like to give a shout out to?
We started the ’25–’26 girls wrestling season with a team where most of us didn’t have much if any wrestling experience. Everyone showed up every day ready to work hard and support each other through the good and bad days. Wrestling isn’t an easy sport, and this season I learned exactly how much it takes, strength, mental toughness, accountability, and self-control.
I want to thank our whole team for encouraging me throughout this short but impressionable journey. I also want to thank all of our coaches. I never thought I would ever wrestle, but their patience and help, whether I was asking questions or learning new moves, made a huge difference in my success on and off the mat. They helped me grow more than I expected, and I’m really grateful for everything they did for us this season.
Any hobbies outside of sports?
I enjoy making sourdough bread or anything sourdough, I enjoy spending my nights in the kitchen baking for my friends and family. In the summer I love spending my weekends on the lake waterskiing and jamming out to music on the boat.
Favorite song?

Future plans?
I am committed to Concordia University Wisconsin, majoring in Communicative Sciences and Disorders. I will also be continuing my athletic career playing golf at Concordia.
