At what age did you start playing your main sport?
I started playing at age five.
Who introduced you to the sport?
My parents introduced me to basketball, and they coached me all the way up until high school.
Has this always been your favorite sport?
No, as a child I loved softball; but as I grew, so did my interest in basketball.
How has balancing academics and athletics been different for you from your freshman year to your senior year?
Balancing academics and athletics was difficult for me all throughout high school. It was more challenging my freshman and sophomore year because I was still getting used to it and trying to balance it all. After that, it became a lot easier as I matured and learned how to manage my academics in more efficient ways while still getting good grades as I participated in athletics.
What is your favorite part about this sport?
My favorite part of the sport is the adrenaline rush I receive from the game and the long lasting friendships you develop.
What about it has caused you to stick with it for this long?
It became a core part of who I am, helping me process emotions, overcome challenges, and build resilience.
What would you say is your biggest asset on the track/field/pool?
I think my biggest asset on the court is my leadership. I love my teammates and always want what is best for them. I always strive to be the best teammate and best role model I can be no matter the situation.
How does it feel as a senior, to look back throughout high school and see your growth (as a person and athlete)?
To look back at it now is kinda crazy. You really don't fully understand the meaning of “time flies” until you are almost done with your high school career. It felt like yesterday I was just starting my freshman year. But looking back, I realize how much I grew as a person and an athlete.
Any memorable coaches or teammates you’d like to give a shout out to?
Shoutout to Chayse for being the only other girl who has stuck out basketball with me since fourth grade.
Any hobbies outside of sports?
I enjoy getting coffee, hanging out with my friends, shopping and staying active.
Favorite song?
“The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” by The Script.
Future plans?
I plan to study psychology at UW-La Crosse, hoping to eventually become a pediatric psychiatrist.
