Football at 13
Who introduced you to the sport?
My dad
Has this always been your favorite sport?
Yes
How has balancing academics and athletics been different for you from your freshman year to your senior year?
From freshman year on I’ve learned to set time aside for course work which has gotten more intense as I’ve progressed through high school. Effective time management has helped me to limit stress from my course work allowing me to honor my commitments to my teammates.
What is your favorite part about this sport?
My teammates are what make this sport fun for me.
What about it has caused you to stick with it for this long?
Again, I’ve got to give my teammates credit for making it a fun experience; it’s hard to quit doing something when I enjoy the people I’m sharing it with.
What would you say is your biggest asset on the field/track?
My biggest asset isn’t actually on the field or track; my biggest asset was my mentality to keep grinding and putting in work in the offseason, so I could trust in the work I put in once the season came around.
What has been your most memorable experience in high school sports so far?
Making it to sectionals in track in multiple events
How does it feel as a senior, to look back throughout high school and see your growth (as a person and athlete)?
I’m proud of the work I’ve put in, but I still have football games and a full track season to look forward to.
Any memorable coaches or teammates you’d like to give a shout out to?
I’ve been fortunate to have a lot of great coaches and teammates throughout my time spent in football and track, it would be hard to give a shout out to just a few.
Any hobbies outside of sports?
I enjoy hiking, fishing, hunting and traveling with my family.
Favorite song?
“Even If It Breaks Your Heart” by Eli Young Band
Future plans?
Attend UW-LaCrosse or UW-Madison and pursue a degree in the medical field.
