MARSHFIELD – Summer is winding down, and parents and kids throughout central Wisconsin are getting ready to head back to school. For students in the Marshfield School District, here's what you need to know.
Classes begin Tuesday, Aug. 26, and the district has planned several back-to-school events throughout the month to help families ease into the new academic year.
Marshfield High School families should mark their calendars for registration days Aug. 12-14. Seniors and their younger siblings can register Aug. 12 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Juniors and sophomores (plus younger siblings) will register Aug. 13 during the same hours, while freshmen and any unregistered students should plan to attend Aug. 14.
Don't miss the all-student meet and greet on Aug. 20 from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It's a great chance for students and families to visit the school, practice walking their schedules digitally and connect with staff members. New students and freshmen families will want to stick around for the orientation session at 5:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
Middle schoolers have several opportunities to get ready for the year ahead. Schedule pickup and picture days run Aug. 11-13, with seventh-graders attending Aug. 11 from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eighth-graders will have their turn Aug. 12 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and both grades can attend Aug. 13 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If your child is starting seventh grade or is new to eighth grade, consider attending one of the "Making the Move" sessions Aug. 14-15. These optional sessions are designed to help students feel more comfortable with the transition. Aug. 14 offers sessions at 7:30 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., while Aug. 15 has morning sessions at 7:30 a.m., 9:15 a.m. and 11 a.m.
All middle school families are invited to the meet and greet night Aug. 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Parents of elementary students have one main date to remember: Aug. 21 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. All Marshfield elementary schools will host their back-to-school meet and greet for families with children in 4K through sixth grade.
This is a drop-in event, so families can arrive anytime during that window that works best for their schedule. Parents can meet their child’s teacher and drop off school supplies, while students get a chance to explore their new classroom and building.
