MARSHFIELD-- Lauryn Katzenberger, a senior of Marshfield High School, has signed her letter of committment to the NCAA Division 2 school of the University of Minnesota State Moorhead where she will continue her soccer career at a collegiate level.
Lauryn has been playing soccer since the age of five when her parents signed her up to begin the sport. Aside from soccer, Lauryn is on Marshfield High School’s girls basketball team and has previously run cross country, as well.
During Lauryn’s freshman year of high school she made the varsity team for soccer, then was sidelined as a sophomore due to injuries. Her junior year led her right back to a competetive season, as her senior year promises to do the same.
On her love for soccer, Lauryn said, “I just love the team enviornment and how everyone comes together. There’s so many friendships and connections I’ve made.” Lauryn plays center midfield, and she said the position is her favorite as it allows her to play both defense and offense.
When deciding on which college was the right fit for her, Lauryn said of University of Minnesota State Moorhead, “During campus visits everything just felt very comfortable and familiar. The teammates and coach were all super nice and welcoming.”
When not on the field or in practice at the University of Minnesota State Moorhead, Lauryn will be studying exercise science and kinseology.
