MARSHFIELD--For the first time ever, a toy drive will be held in honor of two Abbotsford students who lost their lives to domestic violence in the summer of 2024. Emily and Melanye’s Christmas Toy Drive is organized and run by two Abbotsford teachers, Tim Buttke and Brett Nelson.
The goal of the toy drive is for every student in the elementary school to receive a toy. Some examples of the toys include fishing poles, sports equipment, board games, remote control cars, art kits, and more. Parents have the opportunity to pick up gifts for their children, or children can pick up wrapped gifts on their own.
Abbotsford Elementary School has 370 students, 80% of which come from econmically challenged families.
Emily and Melanye’s Christmas Toy Drive will be held on Dec. 17, 2024 from 4:00-8:00 pm. Toys will be given in addition to holiday themed activites planned by Abbotsford PTO.
Emily and Melanye’s Christmas Toy Drive is in its’ first year of many to come, with continued support from the community in the form of donations, fundraising, and spreading awareness to honor the passed students.
