At 22, Elly Haines officially will open Vintage Vanity Salon at 454 S. Central Ave. with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. July 24. The salon can be reached at (715) 650-1590; services are available by appointment. Here are the services she offers, her inspiration and more (edited for length and clarity):
1. What services do you provide? Hair coloring, cuts, waxing, tinting
2. Why did you decide to take over/start this business? At just 22 years old I have developed a passion for hair and business. I want to provide a place where people feel comfortable and confident, (and ) a safe space to vent. In hopes of allowing you to leave lighter and more confident in oneself!
3. What got you interested in pursuing this line of work? My mom actually pushed me to go into cosmetology. I used to make her sit as I braided her hair or gave her an up-do. I’m very thankful she gave me the push. Now, I enjoy work every day.
4. What has been the most challenging aspect of a business start up? Truthfully, only being 22, I was lacking a bit of confidence (and was) afraid of failing. (I thought) I was too young to compete with the other salons in Marshfield.
5. What else should people know about you and/or your business? With being young, we provide the most up-to-date techniques. We have a passion for learning and growing at Vintage Vanity. We hope to inspire others (with a salon where) everyone feels new, welcomed and encouraged. Whether you’re coming in for a fresh cut, color, or just to relax, Vintage Vanity is all about building confidence from the inside out.
