MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Tigers football team took down Sparta in their final regular season game on Oct. 18 at Heiting Community Stadium.
Sparta was the only team to score in the first quarter, but Marshfield came back in the second quarter with a 33-yard Kyle Tremelling field goal, followed by two Joey Goettl to Simon Slade touchdown passes. A successful Goettl to Wyatt LeMoine two-point conversion left the halftime score with Marshfield in the lead 17-7.
The Spartans added a field goal in the third quarter, but it wouldn’t do much, as Marshfield scored again in the fourth with a Goettl touchdown run, followed up by a Tremelling extra point.
Marshfield ended the game with a healthy 24-10 lead.
Marshfield will advance to a Division 2 playoff game on Oct. 25.
