Marshfield baseball has tough end to April

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Tiger baseball team is heading into May after a tough ending to April, losing five games in the final week. The Tigers lost to Mosinee April 23, 7-6, at the Woodside Complex in Mauston. Isaiah Baierl had a single and double for Marshfield, while Logan Schreiner had a double and an RBI. Catcher Brandon Montalvo singled and drove in two runs.
On April 26, the Tigers lost both games of a doubleheader with Wisconsin Rapids at Witter Field. The Tigers lost game one by a score of 6-2. The game was tied at one going into the bottom of the sixth inning, when the Raiders scored five runs. Brant Bohman had a single and an RBI for the Tigers, while Andy Goettl drove in the other Tiger run on a sacrifice fly. Will Voss took the loss for Marshfield on the mound.
Marshfield lost game two, 4-0, in a game that was called after six innings because of rain. Donovan Brandl threw a one-hit shutout for Wisconsin Rapids, while walking four and striking out 11 Tiger batters.
The following day, April 27, Marshfield lost both games of a doubleheader with Stevens Point at the Woodside Complex in Mauston. The Tigers lost game one, 4-2. Montalvo had a double and RBI for the Tigers. The Panthers won game two, 9-4. Ryan Krueger had two triples for Marshfield.
Spencer, Auburndale, and Stratford baseball
In other baseball results, Spencer beat Owen-Withee April 24, 6-2. Hunter Luepke was the winning pitcher. He also had two singles and two runs batted in. Caden Schillinger had two singles and an RBI.
The Rockets then beat Marshfield Columbus April 26, 13-4. Tanner Kleinschmidt picked up the win for the Rockets, giving up two hits, while walking one and striking out three in six innings of work. Offensively, Kleinschmidt, Carson Hildebrandt, Luepke, and Colten Schillinger each had two singles and two RBI’s for the Rockets. The Rockets lost to Gilman the following day 4-1.
Auburndale lost to Marathon April 26, 2-1, and then split a doubleheader with Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on April 27. The Apaches took game one, 11-1. The winning pitcher was Fletcher Raab. Dylan Paun had three RBI’s. The Royals won game two, 7-4.
The Stratford Tigers got a pair of wins, April 24, at the Woodside Complex in Mauston, sweeping both games of a doubleheader with Wausau Newman. Stratford won game one, 16-0.
Lance Heidmann was the winning pitcher. At the plate, Eli Drexler singled, homered, and drove in three runs; Dawson Moen singled, doubled, and had three RBIs; Heidmann had three singles and an RBI; and Devyn Palmer singled and drove in two runs.
The Tigers won game two by a score of 13-3. Drexler was the winning pitcher for the Tigers. He also had a double, triple, and four runs batted in. Ty Pankratz singled and drove in two runs. The Tigers ended the week with a loss to Rhinelander April 27, 7-4. Heidmann doubled and drove in two runs for Stratford.
