January 2
Previously issued check Photoshopped and used
A 69-year-old Marshfield man reported that on Dec. 29 someone withdrew money from his checking account without his knowledge. Upon examination, it appeared that someone had altered a check that the man had previously issued and then deposited the check. The man talked to his bank and was reimbursed the money. The matter was sent to the Detective Bureau for further investigation.
Marshfield woman’s identity stolen
At 9:41 a.m., a 48-year-old Marshfield woman reported that a Visa credit card account had been opened in her name and was used to purchase several Target gift cards. The case was forwarded to the Detective Bureau.
Residence toilet papered, Homeowner not willing to roll with it
At 11:08 p.m., a 61-year-old Marshfield man reported that his front yard was toilet papered by an unknown individual. A canvas of the neighborhood was conducted and no suspects were located. The man will provide outdoor surveillance footage to the school resource officer for identification.
January 3
Marshfield woman has suspicious activity in home
A 51-year-old Marshfield woman reported that between Dec. 27 and Jan. 3 she located damage in what appeared to be an attempt to open the front door of her residence. No evidence was found that access was gained, but there was damage to the door jamb and trim, with all damage to the interior and none found on the exterior. The woman said that she is having ongoing issues with suspicious activity at her home. She did not wish to have an alarm or camera installed at this time, nor did she have any information on a suspect.
Marshfield woman receives harassing text
A 40-year-old Marshfield woman reported that on Jan. 1 at 7:12 p.m., she received a text message from a 39-year-old Marshfield man that she had a relationship with that she interpreted as threatening. Contact was made with the man, who claimed the message was not meant to be threatening. Both parties agreed not to have contact with each other or law enforcement action would be taken.
January 4
Steel lift pad cap is hijacked
A 56-year-old Marshfield man reported that a steel lift pad cap that he had ordered for a military floor jack may have been stolen between Dec. 22 and Jan. 4. The man had received confirmation from FedEx that the package was delivered, but he never received it. The case is under investigation.
January 6
Rapids woman arrested in Central Avenue home
A 23-year-old Wisconsin Rapids woman was taken into custody after creating a disturbance at a Central Avenue residence. The woman was transported to the Marshfield Medical Center and admitted. Charges are being requested through the Wood County District Attorney’s office for disorderly conduct, possession of methamphetamine, theft, and possession of prescription drugs.
January 7
Not a straight tequila night for Marshfield man
A 57-year-old Marshfield man was taken into custody after concealing two bottles of tequila and taking them from a Marshfield grocery store on Jan. 6. He was booked and transported to the Wood County Jail. Charges of retail theft will be requested through the Wood County District Attorney’s office.
Gun safe taken from Marshfield apartment
A 35-year-old Marshfield man reported that his gun safe containing $500 and vehicle title was taken from his apartment. At this time, there are no suspects.
