WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The Central Wisconsin Literacy Council (CWLC) will no longer serve Marathon County. The decision was made unanimously this summer as individuals in both Marathon and Wood Counties felt Marathon County should have its own literacy council.
Will Hascall, executive director for CWLC, commented, “Marathon County is the largest county in Wisconsin, and there is enough need for services in that region to warrant the split.”
Marathon County Literacy (MC Lit) maintains an office location on the first floor of the Marathon County Public Library Central Library. Connie Heidemann serves as the current director for MC Lit.
CWLC still serves all of Wood County with office locations in Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield.
Both literacy councils provide English language literacy tutoring as well as tutoring in other areas to help individuals advance their career and personal goals.
Individuals in Wood County who are interested in either receiving tutoring services or who are interested in becoming a volunteer tutor may contact CWLC by calling 855-483-7229 or emailing [email protected]. In Marathon County, contact MC Lit by calling 715-679-6170.
