Step into Spencer’s past with historical presentation

SPENCER — The Marathon County Public Library will offer its Spencer’s Saloons and Businesses of the Past presentation on Aug. 1 from 9-10 a.m. at its Spencer Branch, 105 S. Park St. in Spencer.
Local historian Ronald Draeger will offer a presentation on saloons and businesses that used to be popular in Spencer, including businesses that moved out of the village. Draeger will describe what those establishments were like, how long they were in business, and why they closed or moved. The talk will cover a variety of businesses, including Walter’s Beer, now based in Eau Claire.
