Marshfield boys basketball falls to Merrill in double overtime
Tigers drop fifth game in a row

MERRILL — The Marshfield boys basketball team scored just four points in a pair of overtime periods and lost to Merrill 62-60 on Tuesday night at Merrill High School.
The game was tied 58-58 after regulation, each team scored two points in the first overtime, and Merrill made the only basket of the second OT to pull out the win.
Merrill is now 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Marshfield drops to 2-6 and 0-2 in the conference after suffering its fifth loss in a row.
Alec Hinson had a season-high 21 points for the Tigers, making 5 of 13 from 3-point range and all six of his free throw attempts. Ethan Posteluk, Seth Anderson, and Grant Michaelis each added 10 points for Marshfield, which shot just 40 percent (20 of 49) from the field.
The Tigers play a nonconference game at Chippewa Falls on Thursday.
