Thursday, July 21
Over $5,000 stolen from vehicle
A Wausau man reported that on June 4 someone entered a vehicle that was on the 500 block of N. Central Ave. and removed a bank bag. The person removed the $5,400 that was in the bag and left the bag on the ground next to the vehicle. There are no suspects.
Wednesday, July 27
Possible restraining order violation reported
At 12:37 a.m. a Marshfield woman reported receiving unwanted Facebook messages from a another woman. The Marshfield woman thought the person was possibly a 23-year-old Stevens Point woman, against whom she has a restraining order, using an alias to send the messages.
Police checked the Facebook accounts of the person who sent the messages and the 23-year-old and were unable to determine if the two were related in any way.
Thursday, July 28
Backpack stolen at Griese Park
A Stratford man reported that he accidentally left his backpack near the basketball courts at Griese Park at 5 p.m. on July 24. Upon returning at 12 p.m. on July 25, the backpack and its contents — the man’s wallet, IDs, and debit card — were gone.
Police advised the man to cancel his debit card and notify the Department of Transportation of the missing driver’s license so a new one could be issued. There are no suspects.
Police receive two reports of vehicles entered, items stolen
A Marshfield woman stated that some time between 10 p.m. on July 27 and 4:30 a.m. on July 28 someone had entered her unlocked vehicle, which was on the 600 block of S. Cherry Ave., and removed $60 in bills and $5 or $6 in coins. Nothing else was missing from the vehicle. There are no suspects at this time.
A Marshfield man reported that some time around July 1 and again on the evening of July 27 that two unlocked vehicles on the 900 block of S. Cedar Ave. were entered. During the first incident, a bottle of perfume and a CD case with multiple CDs were stolen. Nothing appeared to be missing on the second occasion. There are no suspects.
Identity theft under investigation
A Marshfield woman reported at 2:53 p.m. that she received a letter indicating that her income was not what had been reported. She contacted the company, and it was determined that someone in Milwaukee was using her Social Security number for employment.
The case will be forwarded to the detective bureau for further investigation.
Man arrested for warrant, OAR, failure to install an ignition interlock device
Police arrested a man for a valid Marathon County warrant as well as for operating after revocation and failure to install an ignition interlock device. He was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking, posted the $500 bond, and was released.
Friday, July 29
Medication stolen from vehicle on Arnold Street
A Marshfield woman reported that two bottles of prescribed medication were stolen from the center console of her unlocked vehicle, which was on the 500 block of W. Arnold St., some time between 10:30 p.m. on July 28 and 6:30 a.m. on July 29.
No immediate neighbors were home at the time of the police canvass. There are no suspects at this time.
Gunshot heard at Cherry Avenue residence
Police responded at 9:48 a.m. to a report of a gunshot sound coming from a residence on the 100 block of S. Cherry Ave. Police made contact at the residence with a juvenile, who also heard the gunshot.
A 27-year-old man was locked inside a bedroom and would not respond to calls or verbal commands. The man eventually came out and was detained without incident.
Upon investigation, police found that the man had fired a handgun while intoxicated in the residence and with children present downstairs. The man consented to a legal blood draw and was transported to Wood County Jail. Charges will be referred to the Wood County district attorney’s office for endangering safety by use of a weapon and recklessly endangering safety.
Unknown person throws brick through door
Police responded at 7:10 p.m. to a report of burglary on the 1500 block of S. Vine Ave. Some time between July 27 and July 29, an unknown person forced entry into a building by throwing a brick through the front door. A cash register was also damaged, and $6 was stolen.
Police took multiple items into evidence, took photographs, and attempted to find fingerprints on the door handle.
Saturday, July 30
Items removed from vehicle on Vine Avenue
A Marshfield man reported that some time between 9:30 p.m. on July 29 and 7:45 a.m. on July 30 someone entered his unlocked vehicle on the 300 block of S. Vine Ave. and removed a breaker bar and a pocket knife. Numerous other items were not taken.
The man stated he found a black baseball hat that he did not recognize near the rear of the vehicle. Police collected the hat as evidence.
Marshfield woman arrested following altercation
Police took a 28-year-old Marshfield woman into custody for domestic disorderly conduct after she was involved in an altercation on the 500 block of E. 21st St. at 5:29 a.m. The woman was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking and later released after posting the required bond. Charges will be forwarded to the Wood County DA.
Sunday, July 31
Police to investigate social hosting situation
Wood County dispatch received information of an underage alcohol party on the 800 block of S. Oak Ave. at 1:23 a.m. Police arrived and saw four males outside the residence. Three of the males went inside, and a 20-year-old Marshfield man who lives at the residence met with police.
The man explained that his parents were out of town and that he decided to have people over. He also said that the people who were drinking were over 21. The man submitted to a preliminary breath test, which registered a 0.102.
An officer attempted to contact the man’s parents and left a message. Police will attempt to locate other people at the party to establish if a social hosting citation is needed.
Two Marshfield men picked up for warrants
Police arrested a 28-year-old Marshfield man on the 100 block of N. Purdy Ave. for two valid Marshfield warrants. The man was brought to the Marshfield Police Department, where he was booked, and then to Wood County Jail.
Police took a 26-year-old Marshfield man into custody on the 500 block of S. Maple Ave. for a valid Wood County warrant. He was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking and later released after posting the required bond of $250.50.
Monday, Aug. 1
Items damaged at Central Avenue business
An owner of a store on the 1200 block of S. Central Ave. reported that some time between 6 p.m. on July 29 and 9 a.m. on Aug. 1 someone had damaged three items that were located outside the store. Police took pictures of the damage and retained them as evidence. There are no suspects.
Wallet stolen from vehicle
A Kronenwetter woman reported at that some time between 10:50 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. her wallet was stolen from her locked vehicle while it was on the 1000 block of N. Oak Ave. She said the wallet was between the front seats, and when her son went to look for it, he noticed it was missing. The vehicle’s doors at that time were unlocked.
The woman said there was no damage to the vehicle or any signs of forced entry. She had driven home prior to calling police to report the incident. There are no suspects.
Tuesday, Aug. 2
License plate reported possibly stolen
A Marshfield woman believed that some time between 8 a.m. on Aug. 1 and 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 2 her front license plate may have been stolen from her vehicle while it was either on the 1000 block or the 1500 block of N. Oak Ave. She could not be sure if the license plate fell off or was stolen.
Police will enter the license plate into the National Crime Information Center database, and the woman will obtain a new plate through the DMV. The back license plate will be removed.
Cuts found in inflatable swimming pool
A Marshfield woman reported that some time between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. an unknown person damaged an inflatable swimming pool she had in her backyard on the 500 block of N. Ash Ave. She had noticed four small cuts in the side of the pool that were not there earlier in the day.
Officers will provide extra patrol for the area.
Marshfield woman reports being harassed
At 10 p.m. a Marshfield woman reported that her child’s father was making harassing phone calls to her while he was intoxicated. She also stated that he was not being cooperative and called her names during a child exchange that occurred this evening.
The woman does not want any further contact from the man. An officer advised the woman on future child custody exchanges and called the man and informed him to not contact the woman.
Man taken into custody for DOC warrant
Police took a 34-year-old Marshfield man into custody on the 300 block of N. Central Ave. for a valid Department of Corrections warrant. He was taken to the Marshfield Police department, where he was booked, and then transported to Wood County Jail.
