Caught Being Safe program rewards young bicyclists
For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD — Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital, in partnership with the Marshfield Police Department, would like to work toward a safe spring and summer for young bicyclists. One of the ways the organizations are trying to accomplish this is through the Caught Being Safe program.
This program involves officers rewarding children for making safe decisions and displaying safe behaviors in our community, such as wearing a bicycle helmet. Beginning April 15, officers will be handing out coupons for various treats to young bicyclists they see displaying such behaviors.
For those who do not have and cannot afford a helmet, the officers will have helmets in their vehicles that they may give to youth in need.
This program is possible because of donations from local businesses, including Arby’s, Chips, Culver’s, Dairy Queen, Hub City Ice Cream, and McDonald’s.
