Abby Baierl tosses five-inning no-hitter for Dons

BOYD — The Marshfield Columbus Catholic softball team kicked off its 2016 season with an impressive 18-1 win over Stanley-Boyd in a nonconference contest Monday.

Abby Baierl earned the win for the Dons, tossing a five-inning no-hitter. She struck out five and walked two.

Maddie DeSmet went 3-for-3 with four RBIs; Maren Seefluth had two hits and two RBIs; and Bailey Neider had a hit, walked three times, and scored three runs for Columbus.

The Dons are at Loyal in their Cloverbelt Conference East Division opener on Tuesday.
