EDGAR — The Spencer volleyball team’s season came to a crashing halt Thursday night as the Rockets were swept by Stanley-Boyd 3-0 in a WIAA Division 3 sectional semifinal at Edgar High School.
The Orioles won 25-19, 25-16, 25-18 and move on to the sectional final against Oshkosh Lourdes on Saturday night at Amherst High School.
“We struggled, and Stanley-Boyd was on their game,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “That was a bad combination for us. We had a successful season, and no one can take that away from this group.”
Macie Weber had 15 kills and three blocks, Sadie Mercier had 19 assists, McKenzie Bainer added 11 assists, and Jenna Rogers had 10 digs for Spencer, which ends the season with a 30-9 record after winning its fourth-straight Cloverbelt Conference East Division title.
