SPENCER — The LuCille Tack Center for the Arts in Spencer is hosting a very unique event Saturday, Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Ron Wolf gives his acceptance speech, after being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, on Aug. 8, 2015 in Canton, OH. (Submitted photo)

The Tack will be hosting NFL Hall of Fame General Manager Ron Wolf, along with the author of his biography, journalist, Mike Bauman. The two will discuss the days when Wolf was in charge of the Pack and managed to turn the team around from the laughing stock of the NFL to a Super Bowl winner in January 1997. Ron procured Mike Holmgren, Brett Favre, Reggie White and many others to fortify the team. Wolf took some great risks in his management and they often paid off.

When Ron Wolf first made the move to get quarterback Brett Favre, he was ridiculed heavily. Favre had health concerns that made most teams shy away from the Atlanta recruit, opening Wolf up to criticism as he bet a first-round pick on the young QB. The team’s record and success would vindicate Ron’s bold moves. Wolf ended a 24-year drought of the team having a winning record and that would continue the whole time Ron was in Green Bay.

During their visit to Spencer, Ron and Mike will talk about the many adventures behind the scenes of the successful 90s Packers. They will chat about Ron’s influences, including former owner of the Oakland Raiders, Al Davis, who had a big impact on Ron when he worked for the organization.

Ron and Mike will also talk about the ongoing rivalry between the Packers and the Bears, which Wolf helped to bring to a whopping 17 wins and 6 losses against the Bears in his time with the Green and Gold. Looking back at a Lombardi trophy, 3 division titles and 3 NFC championship appearances will be a great experience with Ron Wolf and Mike Bauman. When you attend this show, you can also find out what mysterious connection Mike Bauman has to Spencer. There will be a book sale and signing after the show and you can enjoy a tailgate before the event courtesy of the Spencer Boosters.

This show was made possible by the support of the Wisconsin Arts Board, Nasonville Dairy, R&R Flooring and Ron & Robin Safford. The LTCA is attached to the north end of the Spencer school district building at 400 N. School St. and tickets are available now online at lucilletackcenter.com or over the phone at 715-659-4499.
