Marshfield home destroyed by fire

MARSHFIELD — A Marshfield mobile home and its contents were destroyed in a recent structure fire.
The blaze, at 1407 N. Peach Ave., Lot 320, was reported several minutes before midnight on June 14. It was also reported that all occupants were out of the home, except for a dog and a cat.
Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department responded with two engines and one ambulance. Marshfield Police Department also responded to the scene.
Upon arrival the home was fully engulfed with fire, with portions of the exterior walls already failing. A defensive attack was used to extinguish the fire and handlines were used to protect adjoining structures. The fire was quickly knocked down. Firefighters remained on scene for several hours, into the early morning hours of June 15, ensuring all hot spots were extinguished. A box alarm was requested to assist with manpower from Hewitt Fire department and Wood County Central Fire and Rescue Association.
There were no injuries to citizens or fire personnel. One dog and one cat perished in the fire. The structure and its contents are a total loss. The structure and contents were not insured. Minor damage occurred to adjacent structures to the west and east of the home as a result of heat.
The mobile home was owned by Doris Barnes. The fire is currently under investigation. The cause of the fire has not been determined, and no initial dollar estimate of damage and loss was reported.
