MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MACCI) kicked off its week-long Dairyfest celebration on July 12, with the “Dairy Strong” breakfast event at the Eagles Club on South Oak Avenue.
As part of that event, MACCI handed out its annual Friend of Agriculture Award, which recognizes an individual, organization or business that has done great things to promote agriculture in the area.
This year’s honor went to Auburndale Ag Instructor Mark Cournoyer, who said:
Cournoyer received the award to kick off a week’s worth of activities for MACCI’s new-look Dairyfest celebration, which like many events is impacted by limitations resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the week, special recognition of the area’s dairy strengths are being highlighted on the chamber’s website and social media outlets. July 17 is “Food Truck Friday,” with mobile restaurants located throughout the community during the day and early evening.
Activities this Saturday, July 18, will include a “reverse parade” from 10 a.m. to noon. Individuals and families can drive, bike or walk to participating businesses to view special displays and pick some goodies along the way. A map highlighting participating businesses may be found in a parade bag that can be picked up at the Marshfield fairgrounds starting at 9:45 a.m. The afternoon and evening will feature entertainment, various food vendors, and a family-friendly drive-in movie at the fairgrounds.
