Scam
On March 9 at 1:47 p.m. a Marshfield female called with concerns regarding two separate withdrawals from her mother’s checking account that she believes are fraudulent. Upon contact, the mother stated that she had made them in order to pay a man who had contacted her via phone. The male had told the woman that she had won a very large money prize but that first she needed to pay him taxes in order to receive the prize, resulting in the two withdrawals.

Fight leads to arrest
On March 7 at 12:31 a.m. a Marshfield officer was approached by a male subject who informed him of a fight taking place between two males on West First Street in Marshfield. The officer made contact with the parties and was informed that a theft had occurred. A 28-year-old Janesville male was ultimately placed into custody and transported to the Wood County Jail.
Suspicious activity
On March 7 at 5:21 p.m. a Marshfield male reported that an unknown individual had walked across the lawn of his West Laurel Court residence. The male reported finding tracks in the snow as well as a screwdriver on the ground directly outside of the home and near a lower level window. No damage was found on the window and there were no signs of entry.
Possible burglary
On March 7 at 3:32 p.m. an employee of a Marshfield department store reported finding the glass in one of the two exterior doors of the building shattered. The complainant stated that the locks and doors had been set to remain open. Officers inspected the property and found no one inside. Nothing appeared to be damaged or taken.
