Auburndale boys stunned by Wittenberg-Birnamwood

MARSHFIELD – The Auburndale boys basketball team lost a stunner to Wittenberg-Birnamwood at home on Feb. 17.
The game was mostly controlled by Auburndale, and they had the edge at halftime, 27-26.
The game stayed close until the end when Auburndale couldn’t score on four straight possessions, putting them behind Wittenberg-Birnamwood. With seconds left in the game, Auburndale scored putting them up by one. Wittenberg-Birnamwood called a quick timeout with under a second left and put up a shot that went in to win the game.
Hunter Wright was high scorer for the Auburndale team with 15 points scored, teammate Cooper Weinfurter put up 13 of his own.
Auburndale is now 17-3 overall, and 12-2 in the Marawood Conference. They play Stratford at home on Feb. 21. They lost to the 13-0 Tigers earlier this year.
