Auburndale and Pittsville wrestlers find success at regionals

AUBURNDALE – Auburndale has six of their seven wrestlers moving onto sectionals and Pittsville has three wrestlers moving on.
Individuals that qualified for sectionals had to finish first or second in their bracket at regionals.
Dylan Baird (138) is Auburndale’s sole regional champion. Noah Altmann (120), Cody Poeschel (160), Sloan Welch (170), and Brice Thiel (195) all finished second. Hunter Godard (126) finished second after a wrestleback for the spot.
Brent Lau (145) finished fourth for the Apaches.
Pittsville has two regional champs in Evan Dammann (145) and Camron Dammann (132). Peter Esser (106) finished second after winning his wrestleback for second place.
Also wrestling for the Panthers were Dryden Luther (113), Easton Dammann (126), Hunter McDaniel (138), and Jon Klamrowski (195) finishing in fourth; and Avery Myers (160) and Wyatt Landphier (285) placing third.
Individual WIAA Sectionals for Division 3 will be held on Feb. 22 at Shawano High School.
Amherst won with a team score of 229. Weyauwega-Fremont finished second with a score of 199. Auburndale finished in third with 135 points, followed by Pittsville (126), Rosholt (125), Almond-Bancroft/Pacelli (86) and Tri-County (37). Amherst will compete at team sectionals at Amherst High School on Feb. 18.
