Columbus surprises Loyal

MARSHFIELD – The Columbus Catholic girls basketball team traveled to Loyal on Feb. 14 for a Cloverbelt East Conference matchup, where the Columbus girls surprised Loyal and took the win.

Loyal led at the beginning of the second half by one, 19-18. The Dons would outscore the Loyal girls in the second half, 26-19, to win the game with a final score of 44-38.

Loyal remained second in the conference but their record fell to 12-3. Columbus moved to 9-6 in conference action.

Leading scorers for the night were Annika Brown with 13 points and Meghan Kibbel with 12 for Columbus. Loyal was led by Savannah Schley scoring 12.

Loyal will take on Owen-Withee on Feb. 17 for their final regular season game.

Columbus will host Neillsville on Feb. 17.
