Marshfield hockey falls to D.C. Everest, gets big win against Black River Falls

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield hockey hosted D.C. Everest on Jan. 30 and fell to the Evergreens, 3-1. The win pushed D.C. Everest into third place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference and Marshfield fell to fourth.

Marshfield scored in the first period on a goal made by Payton Smith, assisted by Nick Urban. D.C. Everest then scored in the second period by Edie Zynda with assists from Parker Neitzke and Owne Bunnell. D.C. Everest also scored twice in the third period, with goals coming from Grant Oertel and Colby Schmitt.

Marshfield then hosted Black River Falls on Jan. 31 where they took a big 7-1 win.

Scoring in the first period was Marshfield’s Evan Weister, assisted by Josh Gruen.

During the second period, Marshfield scored four unanswered goals by Noah Peterson, Payton Smith, Henry Hoerneman, and Nick Urban.

Marshfield struck again in the third period with another Nick Urban goal.

Black River Falls gained some momentum halfway through the third period, with a goal from Malachi Berry, but a Marshfield goal by Sawyer Schindler sealed the deal for a 7-1 Marshfield win.

Marshfield will play again on Feb. 4 against Merrill/East. D.C. Everest will face SPASH at home on Feb 6. Black River Falls hosts DeForest on Feb. 4.
