Panthers drop final meet of the year to Bonduel
By Cody Miller
PITTSVILLE – On Jan. 30, the Pittsville Panther wrestling team made the long trek to Bonduel to face the Bears.
Bonduel was assured second place in the Central Wisconsin conference before the meet, but that did not stop the Panthers from trying to pull off the upset.
Competition started at 145, with Evan Dammann winning by forfeit to start the scoring. The Panthers picked up two more forfeit wins and pins by Wyatt Landphier and Peter Esser to tie the score 30-30, with four matches to go.
Bonduel, however, pulled out three of the last four wins to seal a 45-36 victory.
Pittsville travels to Almond-Bancroft on Feb. 7 for the conference tournament. Wrestling begins at 9:30.
