MARSHFIELD – The UWSP at Marshfield Marauders dropped the final game of first semester to UW-Platteville Baraboo 85-63.

The Fighting Spirits came out fast and were up 8-0 in under a minute. After a quick timeout, the Marauders were able to regroup and pick the defense up. Unfortunately for the Marauders, it was the offense that could not get going.

With many good looks, the lid on the basket never seemed to come off as the Marauders trailed at halftime 33-25.

The Marauders were able to fight back in the second half and pull the game closer as Joey Miller (Columbus) hit the first and only three point field goal of the game.

Marshfield was able to keep it within reach until the last few minutes when the cold shooting finally caught up. The Marauders finished the game 1/17 (6 percent) from the three-point line and 14/30 (47 percent) from the free throw line.

Leading the way for the Marauders was Joe Fields (Obama SCTE) with 18 points, Jack Bezlyk (Spencer) with 13 points, and Ethan Posteluk (Marshfield) with 12 points.

The Marauders are now off for winter break and will pick back up on Jan. 8, when they travel to Fox Cities to take on UW-Oshkosh Fox Valley
