MARSHFIELD – On Nov. 13, the 2020 Crystal Apple Teachers of Distinction were surprised in their classrooms.
The 17th annual Crystal Apple Awards program kicked off the end of September when over 50 volunteers visited nine area school districts presenting teachers with gifts for all that they do in the classroom.
Volunteers encouraged students to nominate their favorite teacher and this year, 1171 nominations were received for 310 different teachers.
Qualifying nominees were placed on a ballot and teachers voted on their top candidate from their school.
The top vote-getters identified the 24 “Teachers of Distinction.”
The 24 teachers will continue in this process by presenting their teaching philosophy to a selection team of community members at the end of February. From these 24 individuals, four Crystal Apple winners will be selected. The announcement of the four Crystal Apple winners will be in early March.
