Dairyfest Parade takes center stage

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield’s annual salute to the dairy industry filled the first weekend of June with activity, and the main event – Marshfield’s Dairyfest Parade –took center stage downtown on June 1.

The Marshfield Area Special Olympics took home the Mayor’s Trophy for the best overall float. Athlete Heather Holland said their float was inspired by next weekend’s state games coming up in Stevens Point.

Holland will compete in swimming at the Special Olympic state games next weekend. Marshfield also competes in track and field as well.

Emily Nemitz and the Marshfield Area Girl Scouts won the first place trophy for best youth float.

The Knights of Columbus won the first place prize for best float by an organization. Dan Spencer says the Knights are still a very active group, even though the KC Hall is closed and the property up for sale.

Meanwhile, Simplicity Credit Union took top honors for float by a business. With a recent expansion into Clark County, Spokesperson Kayla Poeschl said Simplicity is a business that’s on the moo-ve.
