Joyce A. “Toots” Montag

Joyce A. “Toots” Montag, 84, Marshfield, formerly of Chili, passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church, Marshfield, where a visitation will be from 3:30 pm until service time. Rev. Daryn Bahn, Rev. Andrew Belt and Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Joyce was born on November 4, 1934 in Marshfield, to Signet and Martha (Stecker) Wichman and was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. She was united in marriage to Elgene H. Montag on October 12, 1957 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hewitt.

Joyce had been employed at Marshfield Clinic for 40 years until her retirement. She and Gene operated a game farm in Chili, Wisconsin for over 40 years. In the latter years the Montag’s participated in many parades with miniature horses and stepdown hitch. Thousands of students and elderly people visited their farm, the youngest at 3 weeks and the oldest at 98. Toots also enjoyed her egger hobby, painting and decorating eggs for over 20 years.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gene, and 2 sisters, Betty (James) Kupfer of Marshfield and Sharon (Jack) Jansen of Las Vegas. She is also survived by 4 nieces, 3 nephews, 8 great nieces and 3 great nephews. She is further survived by the Beils who adopted Tootie over 35 years ago, Nick, Amy, Stephanie and their extended families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ronald in infancy and 3 great nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated in her name to Hope Lodge, House of the Dove or a church or favorite charity of the donor’s choice.
