MARSHFIELD – On June 25, the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of Hewitt’s Meats new facilities at 210 Downwind Drive, Marshfield.

The new building is home to the business’ meat-processing operations, as well as a new retail store.

John and Amanda Franseen operate the business. Amanda is the great granddaughter of Marvin and Crystal Hewitt, who started the business in 1939 at a Lindsey location.

According to John, 99 percent of Hewitt’s products are locally produced, with recipes handed down through multiple generations.

In addition to retail product offerings, the new store is offering lunch daily from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., featuring sandwiches and salads.

For more on the business, visit the Hewitt’s Meat Processing Facebook page.
