From the Clark County Sheriff’s office

NEILLSVILLE – A Greenwood man is dead after the truck he was driving was involved in a crash on Twenty-Six Road near Miller Avenue in the township of Loyal.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of the crash on June 12 at about 3:28 p.m. Initial investigation indicates a pickup truck, being driven by Troy A. Zabel, 35, was westbound on Twenty-Six Road when he struck the rear of a silage wagon being pulled by a tractor, also traveling east.

Zabel was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Richard Schleifer. Speed and traveling too fast for conditions appear to be factors in the accident. Zabel was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Loyal Area Fire Department and Ambulance Service responded to the scene with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner Schleifer. The investigation is continuing by the Clark County Sheriff’s and Coroner’s Office.

The operator of the tractor, Conner P. Fabian, 18, was not injured. This is the third traffic fatality in Clark County for 2018.
