WISCONSIN RAPIDS – A Marshfield man has been charged with a felony count of domestic abuse following a Nov. 15 incident in which he allegedly became violent with his live-in girlfriend.

According to court records, the 33-year-old Marshfield man, identified as Ashley R. Guite, entered the residence that the two individuals shared and became abusive, grabbing his girlfriend’s shirt and arm and pressing his finger into her left eye.

She then attempted to break free and Guite reportedly punched her in the ear so hard that her ear began to ring. She then ran into another room, with him following her. Guite pushed her to the floor and placed his hands around her throat, making it difficult for her to breathe.

Guite was charged in Wood County Court with a class H felony charge of strangulation and suffocation, which could result in $10,000 in fines and six years imprisonment, if convicted.

He also received a class A misdemeanor charge of battery, domestic abuse.
