Globe-trotting nun to appear at Tack Center

SPENCER — Sister Nancy Murray, a member of the Adrian Dominican Sisters, will perform the one-woman play “Saint Catherine of Siena: A Woman for Our Times” on Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. at Spencer’s LuCille Tack Center for the Arts.
Dramatizing the 14th-century saint’s life in colorful snippets, Murray portrays a courageous woman who was “feisty but lovable, direct but gentle.” St. Catherine devoted herself to the poor and the sick, dictated hundreds of letters to influential people, and convinced the pope to return to Rome after 68 years in France.
Murray grew up near Chicago during the 1960s, the oldest daughter in a large, creative family that had a strong interest in theater. After high school and a one-year stint in Rotary International, she joined the Adrian Dominican Sisters and now makes sharing St. Catherine’s story and message her full-time ministry.
Tickets are available online at lucilletackcenter.com or by calling 715-659-4499. The LuCille Tack Center for the Arts is located at 300 School St. in Spencer. To purchase tickets in person, access the box office on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
