MARSHFIELD — A 27-year-old Marshfield woman was sentenced to three years in prison for two Wood County court cases involving October 2013 drug crimes and actions that court records say led to a Spencer man’s death in 2017.
Cassandra Staab was convicted on five felonies, including the manufacture and delivery of heroin involved in the Jan. 31, 2017, death of 22-year-old Thomas Bychinski.
According to court documents, the heroin — laced with furanyl fentanyl and acryl fentanyl — that led to Bychinski’s death was obtained from Staab.
Staab pleaded no contest in a plea deal that dismissed six other charges, some of them felonies.
Her sentencing includes five years of extended supervision.
Staab still faces a felony charge of first degree reckless homicide for Bychinski’s death in Marathon County court. Her preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 5.
