Thursday, May 4
Woman admits to retail theft attempt
A loss prevention officer at a store on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. reported that at 3:10 p.m. a 35-year-old Marshfield woman did not pay for items and left the store with them. Police contacted the woman, and she admitted she attempted to steal the items.
This was the woman’s second retail theft in less than a year. Charges for retail theft will be directed to the Marathon County district attorney’s office.
Monday, May 8
Business receives counterfeit $100 bill
The owner of a business on the 300 block of N. Central Ave. reported receiving a counterfeit $100 bill on May 7. A possible suspect was reported. The owner was out of town but said he would check video surveillance footage when he returned.
Two arrested following traffic stop
Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on the 700 block of W. Blodgett St. at 12:19 p.m. The odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle, and a search was conducted.
Police located marijuana and arrested a 24-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman. In addition to THC possession, the man was arrested for operating without a license, second offense, and operating while under the influence (OWI), first offense.
Both subjects were booked and released. Charges were requested through the Wood County DA’s office.
Intoxicated men reported lying on the side of the road arrested
Police responded at 4:20 p.m. to a report of a man lying on the side of the road near the intersection of Spruce Avenue and Doege Street. Police arrived and found two intoxicated males.
A 27-year-old man was taken into custody for a probation hold. He was not cooperative and was transported to jail without completing booking procedures. A 19-year-old man was arrested and cited for underage drinking.
Stratford man taken into custody for bail jumping
At 6:18 p.m. police took a 28-year-old Stratford man into custody for felony bail jumping on the 400 block of W. Ives St. He was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, where booking procedures were completed, and then to Wood County Jail.
Teen with Clark County warrant jailed
An 18-year-old Stevens Point man was taken into custody on the 600 block of Laurel Court for a valid Clark County warrant. He was taken to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then transported to Clark County Jail.
Tuesday, May 9
Suspected methamphetamine located during traffic stop
An officer observed a 19-year-old man with a suspended license driving a vehicle on the 1300 block of S. Central Ave. and initiated a traffic stop. The man was then taken into custody for obstructing an officer and felony bail jumping.
K-9 Steffi indicated to a controlled substance inside the vehicle. A pipe with suspected methamphetamine was located.
The man was booked and transported to jail. A female passenger of the vehicle was not allowed to have contact with the man, and she was taken into custody for a probation hold. Her probation officer spoke to her at the Marshfield Police Department, and she was released.
Woman taken into custody for disorderly conduct, domestic abuse-related
Police took a 52-year-old Marshfield woman into custody for disorderly conduct, domestic abuse-related, on the 700 block of N. Cedar Ave. at 7:38 p.m. She was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, where booking procedures were completed; posted bond; and was released. Charges are being requested through the Wood County DA’s office.
Wednesday, May 10
Driver without valid license arrested
Following a traffic stop near the intersection of Arnold Street and Cedar Avenue, police arrested the driver of the vehicle for operating without a valid license, OWI-related. The driver was booked and then released.
Thursday, May 11
Man steals Crown Royal
Police received a report of a retail theft that occurred on May 1 at a store on the 600 block of S. Central Ave. The suspect stole a bottle of Vanilla Crown Royal.
An officer viewed surveillance video of the theft and was able to identify the suspect as a man who had prior police contacts regarding alcohol theft. The officer made contact with the man, who admitted that he had been stealing alcohol.
The man was arrested, booked at the Marshfield Police Department, and then released. Charges will be requested for retail theft.
Friday, May 12
Marshfield woman cited for second OWI
An officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that did not have its headlamps on during hours of darkness near the intersection of Central Avenue and 29th Street at 3:10 a.m. The driver, a 23-year-old Marshfield woman, had glossy, reddened eyes.
Upon second approach, the woman was crying and acknowledged impairment. She said she drove to remove herself from a sexual assault situation. The officer said he would investigate that claim but would process her for possible impaired driving also.
The woman did not complete standardized field sobriety tests, and her preliminary breath test resulted in a 0.22. The informing the accused form was read to the woman prior to obtaining consent for a blood draw. The woman was issued a citation for OWI, second offense, and a blood draw was performed at the hospital.
Police perform two warrant pickups
Police took a 22-year-old Marshfield man into custody on the 300 block of N. Central Ave. at 1:58 p.m. for a valid probation hold. He was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, where he was booked, and then to Wood County Jail.
At 3:11 p.m. police took a 51-year-old Marshfield woman into custody on the 600 block of W. Arnold St. for a valid Portage County warrant. She was brought to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and transported to Wood County Jail.
Saturday, May 13
Nineteen-year-old violates probation
At 5:17 a.m. police took a 19-year-old Marshfield man into custody on the 500 block of N. Maple Ave. for a probation hold. The man had violated his probation rules by consuming intoxicants and being out past curfew.
The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then taken to Wood County Jail and released to the jail staff’s care.
