Ten years ago

The Alliance Missionary Church celebrated its 75th year of ministry on Jan. 28 at the church at 2203 E. Becker Road. The public was invited to the event, which had festivities including a ribbon cutting ceremony, guest speakers, special music, and tours of the church’s new addition.

Twenty-five years ago

Tuesday the Marshfield Junior High School boys’ A and B basketball teams produced wins over Stevens Point P. J. Jacobs. Pete Cusic had 20 points to lead the A team to a 61-44 victory, and the B team was led by Ryan Skattebo with 13 points in the 60-33 win.

Fifty years ago

The Columbus Catholic High School wrestling team tore past Campion 29-16 in Prairie du Chien Saturday afternoon. Columbus High winners were Jim Kondrasuk, Fritz Hastreiter, Dick Berg, Bob Ley, David Kraus, Steve Ampe, and Dennis Weber.

Seventy-five years ago

More appointments of chairmen for a number of departments under the North Wood County Defense Council were announced by Mayor George J. Leonhard, chairman, Tuesday night at a meeting of the council. Appointed were Irvin W. (Jimmy) Wendt to head transportation, Harry C. Wenzel to head salvage, and Emmagene Hayward and Mark Almli would be in charge of the recreation section.
