MARSHFIELD — Four area teachers were selected as Crystal Apple award winners Tuesday, an honor which recognizes excellence in teaching. The award is presented by the Marshfield Area Chamber Foundation.

Amy Beil-Larson from Madison Elementary School, Penny Wehrs from Greenwood Middle/High School, Joshua Knecht from Marshfield High School, and Danielle Wojcik from Columbus Catholic High School are this year’s four Crystal Apple winners.

Now In its 13th year, the Crystal Apple awards process began in February as volunteers visited area schools and asked students to nominate their favorite teacher.

Nominated teachers were then placed on ballots and voted on by their peers to determine 24 “Teachers of Distinction.” Those 24 teachers then met with a selection team and presented their teaching philosophies to the group. The selection team then picked four Crystal Apple winners.

The winners will be given $1,000, and all 24 teachers of distinction will be honored at a banquet on October 7 of this year, which will be held at the Holiday Inn in Marshfield.
