Marshfield Parks & Rec and the YMCA release brochure on summer programs

By Kelly Cassidy

CPRP, Marshfield Parks and Recreation Department

On April 10, 2015, the Marshfield Parks and Recreation Department and YMCA released their Summer Program Brochure. This is a catalog put together by both agencies and includes activity listings and information about recreation offerings in the area for all ages.

We work with the Marshfield Buyers’ Guide to put the catalog together and distribute the catalogs around town at the Marshfield Public Library, Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and local grocery stores and gas stations.

You can access the Parks & Recreation brochure online at ci.marshfield.wi.us. Click on “Departments,” then “Parks & Recreation,” and choose “Program Brochure,” or you can stop by our office in City Hall, 630 S. Central Ave., Suite 201R., or in the lobby of City Hall.

There are a lot of activities going on this summer from basketball to skateboard lessons. Parks and Recreation has it all. We have something for all age groups. If you are interested in getting fit without stressing your muscles and joints, take a look at our aquacise (water exercise) classes. If you are looking to improve your sports skills, we offer camps for soccer, basketball, volleyball, football, and golf. We have classes, camps, and competitive sports leagues for everyone.

Hefko pool will be open for the season on Saturday, June 6. Remember that Monday–Saturday from 11-11:45 a.m. the pool is open free to the public. This is thanks to the following sponsors: Marshfield Professional Police Assoc., Security Health Plan, McDonald’s, Kwik Trip, Chips Hamburgers, Subway, Mueller Publishing Inc., MSA Professional Services Inc., NAPA Auto & Truck Parts of Mfld, Marshfield Teachers Assoc., Hub City Ice Cream, Weber Farms, Bents Chiropractic, Roehl Transport, Cellcom, Dairy Queen, Marshfield Clinic, and Baltus Oil.

Do not forget to pick up your Hefko Pool season pass by May 21 for a discounted price. In addition to the Hefko Pool pass savings, the Marshfeild Parks & Recreation Department has partnered with the Wisconisn Parks & Recreation Association to offer discounted tickets to various Wisconsin Dells attractions, Milwaukee County Zoo, Old World Wisconsin, Valleyfair, Six Flags, and House on the Rock.

These tickets can help save up to 30 percent off, and tickets are nonrefundable.

Registration for all camps and classes can be done in our office, by mail with a check and registration form, or online at ci.marshfield.wi.us. For online registration, click on “Departments,” then “Parks and Recreation,” and choose “Online Registration.” Registration forms can be found inside the brochure or online under “Recreation” and then “Registration Forms.”

We take cash or check in the office, but if you choose to register online, you may use a credit or debit card.

If you are looking for summer employment or volunteer hours and enjoy working with children, be sure to check out our available positions online and apply. We are looking for instructors, program directors, lifeguards, and referees.
