MARSHFIELD — Julie Brussow has been named chief executive officer for Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, Inc. Brussow, who has served as interim chief administrative officer since last summer, is a long-time employee of Security Health Plan.

“Julie has been a valuable asset to Security Health Plan for many years and as interim chief administrative officer demonstrated her understanding of the company’s needs and commitment to the long-term success of our business,” said Susan Turney, M.D., chief executive officer, Marshfield Clinic Health System. “With her experience at Security Health Plan and her passion for people, Julie is the right person to take Security Health Plan into the future. We are pleased to have found the right person as our Health Plan’s chief executive officer right at hand.”

A lifelong resident of Loyal and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Brussow has nearly three decades of experience working at Security Health Plan and Marshfield Clinic in a number of leadership roles.

Prior to serving as interim CAO, Brussow was Security Health Plan’s chief operating officer, led its government programs department, and worked in various roles in sales and marketing for Security Health Plan.

“Security Health Plan has always been a vital part of our community’s economy and serves members across many areas of the state,” Brussow said. “I am proud of our work over many years to make Security Health Plan a strong business, a dependable employer, and a leader in the health insurance industry. We have experienced tremendous growth over the past few years. My plan is to see that Security Health Plan serves its members in the best possible way and continues on a solid path to even greater growth and success.”

John Kelly named chief marketing and operations officer for Security Health Plan

John Kelly has been named chief marketing and operations officer, expanding his role to include operations in addition to his duties as chief marketing officer for Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, Inc.

As chief marketing and operations officer, Kelly will provide strategic direction to customer service, claims, training, business configuration, enrollment, and mail center as well as his existing duties overseeing the marketing, sales, and commercial actuarial and underwriting functions of the Health Plan.

Kelly joined Security Health Plan in 2013. He was previously a district administrator for Marshfield Clinic, and prior to that he was senior vice president at Gundersen Lutheran Health Systems in La Crosse.

“John’s strong leadership skills and willingness to take on these additional responsibilities to help Security Health Plan maintain efficiency and improve service to its customers are admirable,” said Brussow. “He will build on our strengths as well as help identify areas of improvement so that we can better serve our customers.”

A Minnesota native, Kelly received his bachelor’s degree in psychology, health, and society from the University of Rochester. He received his master of business administration from the University of Chicago.
