WOOD COUNTY--The Wood County Land & Water Conservation Department is offering a variety of species for the spring 2025 Tree, Shrub and Native Wildflower Sale. Orders are due by Friday, Jan. 17, 2025. Notification will be sent in April stating dates/times orders will be ready for pick up.
The species offered include Douglas Fir, Hybrid Poplar, Hybrid Willow, Red Osier Dogwood, Sugar Maple, Highbush Cranberry, White Spruce, Fast Growing Species Packet (5 species, 2 of each species including 2 Hybrid Poplar, 2 Hybrid Willow, 2 Norway Spruce, 2 Ninebark & 2 Silver Maple) and Bird & Butterfly Packet (five species, 2 of each species including 2 Butterfly Bush, 2 Lilac, 2 Trumpet Vine, 2 Rose of Sharon and 2 Hibiscus Moscheutos). Tree and shrub bundles contain 25 trees/shrubs while the packets contain 10 trees/bushes. Sizes range from 6-24 inches and prices range from $22.00 - $30.00 per/bundle or packet depending on the tree species. Native prairie wildflower seeds are also available and include Pollinator Mixes, Monarch Mixes, Erosion Control Mix, Land Restoration Mix, Grass Waterways Mix, Logging Road Mix and Pollinator Seed Bear (for a 200-400 square foot pollinator garden) as well as 6 varieties of Food Plot Mixes. Generic gel and tree shelters are also available at all times throughout the year (generic gel is a starch absorbent that retains water and gives it back to the plant during dry periods; tree shelters are 4-foot plastic, seamless, twin-walled tubes which protect newly planted seedlings from wildlife damage).
