Marshfield company reports check fraud
Two employees of a Marshfield company reported that someone attempted to use the company’s banking account information to purchase $5,342.64 worth of swimming pool supplies via an online check. No financial loss has occurred at this point.
Police have made multiple attempts to contact the swimming pool company, which is located in Browns Valley, Minnesota, but have had no success. An officer did contact the Traverse County Sheriff’s Office for assistance, and an investigator is going to attempt contact at the Minnesota address listed.

Man arrested for drug paraphernalia possession, probation hold
An officer went to a residence on the 800 block of S. Vine Ave. to follow up on a theft of K-9 incident at 9:29 a.m. The officer arrived and detected the odor of burnt marijuana. The home owner consented to a search of the residence.
Following the investigation, police arrested a 30-year-old Marshfield man for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed on a probation hold, booked at the Marshfield Police Department, and transported to Wood County Jail. A request for charges will be sent to the Wood County district attorney’s office.
Thursday, June 16
Wisconsin Rapids man found with heroin, methamphetamine
While conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle on the 1000 block of N. Central Ave. at 12 p.m., an officer was alerted to possible drug activity inside the vehicle. K-9 H conducted a sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive indication for the odor of a controlled substance.
During a search of the vehicle, police located three used syringes and a short plastic straw containing a white powdery residue, which later field tested positive for methamphetamine.
A 21-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man admitted to using the syringes recently for heroin. The man was taken into custody for possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Marshfield woman receives harassing text messages
At 12:37 p.m. a Marshfield woman reported receiving numerous threatening and harassing text messages from a phone number she did not recognize. The woman believed the messages were from an ex-roommate. The woman had previous issues with the ex-roommate, and the messages were about the prior incidents.
The investigation is ongoing.
Two with warrants arrested
A 29-year-old man came into the Marshfield Police Department regarding a stolen dog complaint. The man had a Department of Corrections felony warrant for his arrest. He was booked and then transported to Wood County Jail.
Police arrested a 26-year-old man with a valid Marathon County warrant near the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Chestnut Avenue. He was unable to post the $1,500 bond and was later turned over to a Marathon County deputy.
Friday, June 17
Feces found in window well
At 11:07 a.m. a Marshfield man reported finding feces in the outside window well of his residence on the 500 block of S. Lincoln Ave. The man reported that this also occurred in May.
The man believed at that time it was possible that his neighbor was doing it to provoke him, and it is unknown if the feces is animal or human. The man said the neighbor had since moved, but he still found feces in his window well.
Police suggested the man install a window well cover and possibly a game camera. In looking at the feces, it appeared to police to include grains and grass-like substances.
Marshfield man reports harassment
A 54-year-old Marshfield man reported at 11:35 a.m. that he is being harassed by a 31-year-old Marshfield woman. The man said the woman had asked him for his prescription medication multiple times in the past, but he did not offer any specific days or times for when this happened. The man said he had not given her any but would like the contact the stop.
Police contacted the woman, and she said that she had never asked for the man’s medication and that the only time she has contact with him is when he asks for vehicle rides. The woman said she would not have any contact with the man.
Eighteen-year-old with Wood County warrant taken into custody
Following a traffic stop on the 100 block of W. Arnold St., police took an 18-year-old Marshfield man into custody for a Wood County warrant at 6:55 p.m. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, where booking procedures were completed, and then he posted bond and was released.
Woman jailed for warrant reports stolen medication
At 7:17 p.m. police took a 38-year-old Marshfield woman with a valid Department of Corrections warrant into custody on the 500 block of N. Central Ave. She was booked at the Marshfield Police Department and then transported to Wood County Jail.
While at the jail, the woman wished to report a theft of approximately 20 of her prescription oxycodone pills. The prescription was filled on June 16.
She was told to follow up with an officer when she is out of jail. Investigation will continue.
Saturday, June 18
Missouri man cited, arrested for OWI
At 1:45 a.m. an officer observed a vehicle traveling north on South Central Avenue near 14th Street. The vehicle was in the left turn only lane, and as the light turned green, the vehicle signaled right and proceeded straight through the intersection.
The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, a 56-year-old St. Charles, Missouri, man. The officer noticed the man had a slight odor of an intoxicant on his breath, bloodshot eyes, and slurred speech. He was very drowsy and had a hard time keeping his eyes open.
The man admitted to consuming alcohol hours before being stopped and to consuming his prescribed sleep aid medicine approximately 45 minutes prior to driving. He performed standardized field sobriety tests poorly and refused to give a preliminary breath test sample.
The man was arrested and cited for operating while under the influence (OWI), first offense, and he refused the legal blood draw. He was later released to his wife.
Marshfield man taken into custody for bail jumping, probation hold
A Marshfield woman reported that she had received text messages from a 21-year-old Marshfield man, which was a violation of his bond as well as his probation rules. She also stated that man came to her residence at 4:22 a.m. and looked in her window.
Police subsequently took the man into custody for misdemeanor bail jumping and a probation hold, and he was transported to Wood County Jail. Charges are being requested through the Wood County DA’s office.
Sunday, June 19
Man arrested for OWL found in possession of drug paraphernalia, THC
At 8:17 p.m. near the intersection of 14th Street and Schmidt Avenue, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle owned by a 23-year-old Granton man. The man had no license issued and two prior operating without a license (OWL) convictions. He was arrested for OWL, third offense.
During the search incident to arrest, police located drug paraphernalia and marijuana in a backpack the man was carrying.
The man was brought to the Marshfield Police Department for booking and then was released. Charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of THC will be requested through the Wood County DA.
Monday, June 20
Domestic battery case forwarded to DA’s office
A Marshfield woman reported arguing with her fiance between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on June 18. She stated that he became angry and grabbed her around the rib cage, lifted her off the ground, and slammed her into a wall. The woman had a swollen right cheek and jaw area and had red marks on both sides of her rib cage.
The man came into the Marshfield Police Department and was interviewed. Due to conflicting statements during the suspect and victim interviews, the case will be forwarded to the DA’s office for further review.
Marshfield man taken into custody following disturbance
Police responded at 3:03 a.m. to a report of a disturbance on the 1400 block of S. Palmetto Ave. Officers took a 22-year-old Marshfield man into custody for disorderly conduct, domestic abuse-related, and misdemeanor bail jumping.
The man was brought to the Marshfield Police Department for booking procedures. He was unable to post bond and was transported to Wood County Jail. Charges are being requested through the Wood County DA’s office.
Man allegedly breaks ex-fiancee’s laptop
A Marshfield woman reported at 11:51 a.m. that her ex-fiance damaged her laptop while he was at her residence. Police observed that the laptop had a cracked screen and major damage to some components.
The man had not been back to the residence in the past 24 hours. Officers will attempt to contact the man for questioning.
Bicycle stolen at Marshfield High School
A Marshfield juvenile reported that her bicycle was stolen some time between 8 a.m. and 12:22 p.m. while she was at Marshfield High School. She stated the bicycle was not locked or secured.
The juvenile was unsure of the model, size, or serial number, and she did not give anyone permission to take the bicycle.
Man arrested for OWI, meth possession
Police responded at 2:05 p.m. to a report that a man had left a gas station on the 1700 block of N. Central Ave. who appeared to be very intoxicated and attempted to steal items from the store. Police located the man several blocks away.
After an investigation was conducted, the man was arrested for OWI, second offense, and possession of methamphetamine. He was booked at the Marshfield Police Department and transported to Wood County Jail.
Retail theft reported
Police responded at 5:56 p.m. to a report of retail theft at a store on the 1100 block of W. Upham St. A loss prevention officer reported observing a 34-year-old Curtiss woman conceal pet care products and walk out of the store without paying for them.
The woman’s mother was also involved and was cited. A request for charges will be sent to the Wood County DA’s office for retail theft.

Marshfield woman with Clark County warrant arrested
Following a traffic stop at 10:09 p.m., police arrested a 47-year-old Marshfield woman for a valid Clark County warrant. The woman was taken to the Marshfield Police Department for booking procedures and then released after she posted the full bond amount.
Wednesday, June 22
Auburndale man enters Marshfield apartment
Police responded at 1:37 a.m. to a report that an unknown intoxicated man had entered an apartment on the 300 block of S. Chestnut Ave. by removing an air conditioner in a kitchen window. The man, a 25-year-old from Auburndale, was told to leave multiple times and refused.
The man fled upon police arrival, and officers found him a short time later on the 400 block of S. Central Ave. He was uncooperative and ultimately taken into custody.
The man was booked at the Marshfield Police Department and then transported to Wood County Jail. Charges of criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct, and misdemeanor bail jumping will be forwarded to the Wood County DA’s office.
