Profane Facebook message sent

Police received a report of unlawful use of computerized communication at 11:25 p.m. A Marshfield resident reported receiving an unsolicited, demeaning, and profane Facebook message from a 46-year-old Medford woman. Investigation is ongoing.

Thursday, July 23

Social services contacted due to unsanitary living conditions

A landlord wished to file a report at 1:40 p.m. regarding two Marshfield women, a 22-year-old and a 21-year-old, that had just moved out a rental property on East Sixth Street. The landlord stated that the rental property was unsanitary and that the floors were covered in garbage. The landlord also indicated a concern that a young child was living with the women in these conditions.

An officer met the landlord at the rental property and took photographs. The officer will forward the information to social services for follow-up as the living conditions were concerning.

27-year-old violates probation

Police responded at 9:19 p.m. to a report that a 27-year-old Marshfield man was violating his probation rules on the 2200 block of S. Maple Ave. Officers contacted the man and found him to be intoxicated, which was a violation of his probation.

Probation and Parole was contacted, and a hold was placed on the man. The man was booked and then transported to Wood County Jail.

Intoxicated Spencer man chased from bar

At 2:24 a.m. a 23-year-old Spencer man reported that two male acquaintances had chased him from a bar on the 500 block of E. Fourth St. due to a dispute over a female. Due to his level of intoxication, police will contact the Spencer man at a later time for a more accurate statement.

Saturday, July 25

Man sleeping on sidewalk taken into custody

Police took a 32-year-old Spencer man into custody at 5:02 p.m. on a valid probation hold after officers made contact with him on the 1900 block of N. Central Ave. because he was sleeping on the sidewalk. The man was booked and then transported to Wood County Jail, where he was released to jail staff.

33-year-old issued trespassing citation, stalking warning letter

A woman reported at 10:43 p.m. that her 33-year-old ex-boyfriend had made threats to a mutual friend. The woman was concerned for her friend’s safety.

Upon officer arrival, the ex-boyfriend was in the parking lot of the victim’s place of employment on the 1600 block of N. Central Ave. He was detained.

An officer spoke to the woman, and she showed messages the victim had forwarded to her.

The man was arrested and transported to the Marshfield Police Department. He was served a trespassing citation and issued a stalking warning letter. Police then transported him to the residence he was staying at and released him.

Cash stolen from wallet

A 21-year-old Granton woman reported a theft of approximately $170 from her wallet while at a store on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. The woman had left her wallet unattended for about five minutes between 7:30 and 7:40 p.m.

Video has been requested from the store’s loss prevention. Investigation will continue.

Man taken into custody on Marshfield PD warrant

Police took a 25-year-old Marshfield man into custody on a Marshfield Police Department warrant at his residence. The man was transported to the department, booked, and released after the $200 bond was posted.

Sunday, July 26

Bicycle stolen on Vine Avenue

A woman reported that her son’s bicycle had been stolen sometime between 12:01 and 8 a.m. The bicycle was parked behind their house on the 300 block of S. Vine Ave.

The bicycle is described as a bright green boys BMX-style bicycle with a black coil lock and silver pegs. There are no suspects at this time.

Police conducted a neighborhood canvas, but nothing was found. No further action was taken.

Wooden bench found in yard

At 9:03 a.m. an 84-year-old Marshfield man reported finding a small, decorative wooden bench with a sign that reads, “The Johnsons,” in his front yard on the 500 block of W. Arnold St. The man did not know to whom the bench belonged or who put it in his yard. A corner of the bench was damaged.

A canvas of the neighborhood was done, but officers did not find the owner. No other items in the neighborhood seemed out of place.

Man found with no signs of life, death investigation initiated

Police responded at 11:18 a.m. to a report of a man found with no signs of life on the 1400 block of W. Veterans Parkway. Upon arrival it was apparent that the man, a 48-year-old from Marshfield, had passed away.

A Wood County coroner responded to the scene and pronounced the man deceased. A death investigation was initiated.

Monday, July 27

41-year-old arrested following physical dispute

Officers were dispatched at 2:47 a.m. to North Ash Avenue for a physical dispute between a Marshfield couple. A 41-year-old Marshfield man was arrested, transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, posted bond, and was released.

Wausau man removed from facility, warned for criminal trespassing

Police responded at 6:45 a.m. to a report that a 46-year-old Wausau man needed to be removed from a facility on the 800 block of W. 14th St. The man had been told not to be on the property without the consent of the facility manager after he had made inappropriate comments to staff members.

Officers escorted the man off the property and told him that he needed to make an appointment with the manager before returning or else he would be arrested for trespassing. Facility staff will call police again if the man returns.

Marshfield police assist Sauk County Sheriff’s Office

At 5:49 p.m. the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office requested Marshfield officers take an 18-year-old Marshfield man into custody for an incident that occurred in its jurisdiction. The man was located, taken into custody, and transported to Adams, Wis., where he was turned over to the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.

Tuesday, July 28

Cane reported missing

A 65-year-old Marshfield woman reported her cane went missing while she was on the 500 block of S. Central Ave. between 9 and 9:15 p.m. on July 25. The cane is wooden and maple-colored.

The woman said she did report the cane as a lost item, but it had not yet been found. An officer checked police records and did not find that anyone turned in the cane. A record was made in the event a person would turn in a found cane or one matching the description was found.

Marshfield man arrested for shoe theft

At 7:35 p.m. a loss prevention worker reported a theft from his place of employment on the 1300 block of N. Central Ave.

The worker indicated a 32-year-old Marshfield man purchased a new pair of shoes in the morning and returned a used pair of shoes in the afternoon, stating the used shoes were what were sold to him. The man was given a refund at that time, but after employees spoke to each other, the realized the shoes sold to the man were not used.

The man was later arrested for the charge of theft. The man was booked and released after posting the required bond. A charge of theft will be requested through the Wood County district attorney’s office.

Civil dispute reported regarding chihuahuas

At 9:37 p.m. a 19-year-old Vesper woman reported a dispute with her ex-boyfriend, a 23-year-old from Marshfield. The dispute was over two chihuahuas that the woman requested back after they ended the relationship.

The woman said that one of the dogs was given as a gift, and they purchased other together. The woman did register one of the dogs in her name.

The woman said she was told that she would be able to get the dogs on this date, but the man texted her and said she could not get the dogs. Police were unable to contact the man.

An officer explained that based upon them both having placement and cohabitating together, the best course would be to pursue possible civil court for the placement of the dogs.
