Graffiti spotted on Central Avenue business

An employee of a business on the 1900 block of N. Central Ave. reported finding graffiti at 12:02 p.m. A message left on the business’ south door read, “you don’t care your greedy.” There are no suspects.

Man arrested for criminal traffic violation

At 4:21 p.m. police arrested a 54-year-old Marshfield man on the 1700 block of S. Central Ave. for a criminal traffic violation. The man was arrested, booked, and released.

Marshfield man taken into custody on probation hold

Police took a 35-year-old Marshfield man into custody at 7:18 p.m. on the 200 block of S. Palmetto Ave. for a valid probation/parole hold. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then transported to Wood County jail, where he was released to the jail staff’s care.

Man provided officer false name, cited for Obstruction

At 10:45 p.m. an officer was patrolling the 800 block of N. Columbus Ave. following reports of a suspicious male in the area and a request for an extra patrol. The officer observed the male subject, 36-year-old from Marshfield, and made contact with him. The man verbally identified himself and stated that he had left his Wisconsin driver’s license at home. In verifying the man’s name, dispatch advised that there was no record of the name the man provided.

After the officer told the man he would follow him to his residence so he could retrieve his identification, the man provided his driver’s license. When asked why he was in the area of Columbus Avenue, the man stated that he lived in the area but would not provide his current address other than saying it was not the address listed on the driver’s license. When asked why he gave a fake name, the man stated that he was nervous and scared and that he did not want any co-workers to potentially hear his information going over a scanner. Police issued the man a citation for Obstructing an Officer.

Plumbing company not paid for services

At 2:33 p.m. a 64-year-old man reported that his plumbing company had not yet been paid for work it did between last June and August on a housing complex. The value of services totaled over $18,000.

The man stated that he had contacted the housing owner and the contractor many times to resolve the issue with no success. The man provided all paperwork in reference to the contracted job performed. The case was turned over to the detective bureau.

Man threatened for Facebook activity

At 6:58 p.m. a 34-year-old Marshfield man reported receiving a threatening text message from a 29-year-old Marshfield man. The 34-year-old had attempted to add the 29-year-old’s spouse as a friend on Facebook.

Police warned the 29-year-old for the threat, and the 34-year-old agreed to stop trying to friend the 29-year-old’s spouse on Facebook.

Saturday, March 14

Marshfield man picked up for warrant on Arnold Street

While on patrol at 1:31 p.m. an officer recognized a 34-year-old Marshfield man walking on the 100 block of W. Arnold St. Wood County dispatch confirmed the man had several outstanding warrants. The officer made contact with the man and took him into custody.

During a search, drug paraphernalia was located in his pocket. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking and then to Wood County Jail after he was unable to post the required bond.

Hit-and-run occurs on Central Avenue

At 9:08 p.m. a 21-year-old Marshfield woman reported that while driving her vehicle southbound on the 100 block of N. Central Ave., a white SUV merged into her lane and struck her vehicle. The collision caused minor scrapes to the the woman’s vehicle’s front driver side quarter panel.

The SUV did not stop and eventually turned off Central onto an unknown side street. Police reviewed area video surveillance, but that revealed no further information about the SUV or its driver.

Vehicle’s rear window broken on 17th Street

A 43-year-old Neillsville woman reported that while her vehicle was parked on the 300 block of W. 17th St. between 9 p.m. on March 14 and 7:25 a.m. on March 15 its rear hatchback window had been broken. The woman stated nothing inside the vehicle had been taken, and no object was found on the scene that would have caused the damage.

Police gave the woman a victim’s card with case information and took pictures of the vehicle damage.

Woman reports possible TRO violation

A 26-year-old Marshfield woman reported receiving a voicemail and a text message from her ex-boyfriend, a 27-year-old Marshfield man, against whom she has a temporary restraining order. The voicemail sounded as if the phone was in the man’s pocket, and the text message contained random letters as if sent unintentionally.

Police contacted the man, and he said that he was at work with his phone in his pocket and that calling the woman and the text message were accidents. Police verified with the man’s work that he was working and that at the time of the call he was not using his phone. No further action was taken.

Man arrested on Marshfield warrant

Police arrested a 22-year-old Marshfield man on the 600 block of E. 21st St. for a valid Marshfield warrant. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking procedures. After he was unable to post bond, the man was transported to Wood County Sheriff’s Office jail.

Wednesday, March 18

45-year-old arrested, cited for OWI

While on patrol at 1:28 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle headed southbound on Central Avenue past Eighth Street and traveling in the bicycle lane. The vehicle made a wide right turn onto 14th Street, crossing partially into the oncoming lane of traffic. The officer conducted a traffic stop.

The officer made contact with the driver, a 45-year-old Marshfield man, and identified him through his Wisconsin driver’s license. The man had a strong odor of intoxicants and slurred speech. The man was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which were done poorly. The man got upset and was subsequently unable to provide a preliminary breath test.

The officer took the man into custody for Operating While under the Influence (OWI), first offense. The man agreed to a legal blood draw, was cited for OWI, submitted to the blood draw, and was released.
